american made motorcycles pewter emblem?

I have a pewter emblem, round shaped, about 2 1/2 in. across, w/ eagle w/ HD bar & shield on it, says American made Motorcycles on the bar & shield, looks like belt buckle but nothing on back to hook it, just #’s40023, & a #3 on bottom on back. Anyone know anything about this?

Sounds like it is a decorative piece. They have made many of these pieces, with the idea that the customer could modify it for whatever purpose they desired. Serial numbers and model numbers are not uncommon for this. There are several similar pieces on Ebay, and they are running about $25.
